Too hot to trot

Sunday: 85 degrees in the am with high humidity. So high in fact – two elderly women passed out at church (outdoor services).

Food day was meh. Breakfast was a veggie omelet courtesy of my dh, then nibbles and smacking all day. Ended up at 41 points. Too hot to exercise.

A Struggle Every Day

Weighed in on Saturday – 209.8. So, six weeks (began on April 2) and down 3.2.

Maybe I should just set a short term goal of  getting under 200 pounds.

Still battling the same demons as always

Have a bad day – or three – and gain back most what I’ve lost (3 of 4.5 pounds). Get frustrated that it is so hard to lose and so easy to gain and give up.

I *know* it’s a lifestyle change and that even if it takes 5 years, I’ll be healthier. But frankly, it’s looking dim right now.

Time for a self pep talk…

Back to Weight Watchers

Counting carbs is hard. I like programs that are easy to monitor and calculate. When I tried that with carb counting, I got frustrated trying to figure out what the count was for my husband’s homemade turkey wildrice soup. So, I figured I go back to what comfortable – Weight Watchers. I also know WW works if I stick to it. So, I go back to WW online (I don’t go to meetings) and what do I find? A totally new ww program that takes carbs into consideration. Not sure of this is a good thing or not, but have been tracking diligently for two days. We’ll see how it shakes put on the weekend. I’ll post more about the new WW program later.

My Personal Food Plan

16 carb choices per day (2-4 per meal, 1-3 per snack)

7 oz meat or meat substitute per day

6 fat servings per day

64 oz liquid

30 minutes treadmill

Counting Carbs

So, earlier this week I went to see a registered dietitian. She suspects that I am pre-diabetic (note: I do not want to go into my MD’s office for blood test because I was told in February that I had 6 months to bring down my cholesterol on my own or start taking Lipitor. I am 99 percent sure my #s are the same now as then, so I am holding off as long as I can.)

Anyway, she wants me to start carting carbs as though I was diabetic. As someone who has done just about every diet out there, I figured it would be a piece of cake. I was wrong. I will be at the bookstore today looking for books to help me figure this stuff out.

It begins. Again. Really.

It shouldn’t be this hard, right? I’m smart (at least according to the various degrees on my wall), so why the problems?

Laziness, I think. I believe it’s true that as you get older, your insight gets better. I can say without a doubt that I am lazy. I enjoy eating and am willing to do a little bit about my eating (and drinking) habits, but not enough so it moves the scale. What to do?

Either embrace the weight, get rid of the thousands of dollars of clothes I have in sizes 8 through 16 and rock the size 18 body. OR try try again. I’m too vain to embrace the 18 so I guess I have no choice but to go other other route.

New Year, New Resolve

I love the New Year.

It begins. Again.

This time, it’s The Biggest Loser diet. I’ll let you know how it goes.
